2006 Château Léoville Las Cases mit seinem dichtem Granatrot lässt jetzt schon erahnen was uns erwartet: Komplexe Aromenvielfalt aus Eichenholz, unterlegt mit Rauch, zuerst schwarze Johannisbeeren, etwas tiefer Lakritze, Mokkabohnen und schwarzer Tee. Im Mund samtiger Ansatz, am Gaumen mit Druck, reifes, feines Tannin, präsente Säure, im Nachhall stoffig und lang. Ein Cabernet Sauvignon, der es in sich hat. Eindeutig ein Las Cases für lange Reife, auf die es sich zu warten lohnt.

Tasted at Bordeaux Index's annual 10-Year On tasting in London and then blind at Farr Vintners horizontal, the 2006 Château Léoville Las-Cases has a very complex bouquet with heady scents of blackcurrant, kirsch, crushed violets, rock salt and just a hint of cassis. It is backward and can barely contain its energy. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, very symmetrical and poised, a fine line of acidity interwoven through the black fruit, touches of citrus fruit developing towards the poised and tensile finish. This is a beautiful wine from Jean-Hubert Delon, but it needs several years in bottle. Tasted April 2016.

1994 Château Léoville Las Cases mit dichtem, dunklem Granatrot, komplex wirkt das Bouquet, feine Rauchnote, Vanille, etwas dunkle Schokolade, Eichenholz, reife Cassisfrucht und geröstetes Brot. Im Mund weich und elegant, feinkörniges Tannin, reife Beeren, gute, präsente Textur. Am Gaumen ein Stück süßliche, reife Frucht schwarzer Beeren mit einer Portion Tannin, die im Nachhall weich und gut strukturiert wirkt.

1994 Las Cases zählt zu den besten, großen und gereiften Médoc-Weinen der 90er Jahre. Der Wein hat deutliches Potenzial für weitere 8-10 Jahre Reife.

Michel Delon, a great man, is the consummate proprietor, meticulously administering this vast estate spread out along the St.-Julien/Pauillac border, separated from Latour's finest vineyard by a mere ten feet. The 1993-95 vintages from Delon are brilliant wines. Leoville-Las-Cases remains one of the irrefutable reference points for high class Bordeaux. One of the more massive Medocs of the vintage, this opaque purple-colored wine exhibits fabulous richness and volume in the mouth. Layers of pure black-cherry and cassis fruit are intermixed with stony, mineral-like scents, as well as high quality toasty oak. Medium to full-bodied, with a sweet, rich entry, this wine possesses plenty of tannin, yet fabulous extract and length. Leoville-Las-Cases is one of the half-dozen great wines of the Medoc in 1994. Anticipated maturity: 2002-2025. This lion never falls asleep on the job!
